The global economic and domestic corporate calendars for next week, the beginning of May, are quite frankly choc-o-block. There will be much to absorb.

We’ll begin with manufacturing and services PMI numbers from China on Monday, followed by everyone else’s manufacturing numbers on Tuesday and service numbers on Wednesday, except for those of the eurozone, which will run a day late due to the May Day holiday.

Other US data releases over the week include pending home sales, vehicle sales, personal income & spending, construction spending, factory orders, productivity, trade, and the private sector and non-farm payrolls jobs reports.

The eurozone will report a first estimate of March quarter GDP on Wednesday.

Australian data releases over the week include private sector credit, building approvals and the trade balance.

On the central bank front, the RBA will meet on Tuesday to a lack of fanfare and the Fed will meet on Wednesday night, with little chance of a rate hike expected. Post-GFC, the Fed has only hiked at quarterly meetings.

The RBA will release a quarterly Statement on Monetary policy on Friday.

The domestic corporate calendar features a week dotted by earnings results, production reports, quarterly updates, investor days and AGMs.

Earnings results will sheepishly be delivered by ANZ Bank ((ANZ)) on Tuesday and National Bank ((NAB)) on Thursday, while recent market volatility will have boosted hopes for Macquarie Group’s ((MQG)) result on Friday.

Production reports will be posted by AWE ltd ((AWE)), Northern Star Resources ((NST)), Origin Energy ((ORG)), Syrah Resources ((SYR)) and Independence Group ((IGO)).

Quarterly updates are due from Stockland ((SGP)), Dexus Propety ((DXS)), Goodman Group ((GMG)), Qantas ((QAN)) and Genworth Mortgage Insurance ((GMA)), while Woolworths ((WOW)) will deliver quarterly sales numbers.

Investor days will be hosted by Transurban ((TCL)), Aristocrat Leisure ((ALL)), Sydney Airport ((SYD)) and WiseTech Global ((WTC)).

AGMs will be held by GPT Group ((GPT)), MYOB ((MYO)), QBE Insurance ((QBE)), Rio Tinto ((RIO)) and Santos ((STO)), among others.
