James Hardie Industries reaffirmed FY27 guidance excluding Europe, while bringing forward -US$42m of annualised cost synergies, potentially adding US$5m-US$15m to FY27 earnings, Citi notes.

Free cash flow (FCF) guidance was upgraded to more than US$600m.

Management provided a range of scenarios to demonstrate sensitivities to various market outcomes. While not guidance, Citi estimates FY28 consensus EPS, adjusted for Europe and including -US$33m of interest costs, is around US$1.48.

This suggests to the analyst James Hardie's US$1.43-US$1.51 scenario range is around –2% to +4% versus FY28 consensus.

Citi sees material upside for AZEK from broader distribution and expansion into Australia.

Management also flagged further complementary bolt-on acquisitions, including opportunities in fasteners and glass fencing.

Buy rating. Target $42.60.

Neutral

$42.40

7.72%

Jarden maintains its Neutral recommendation for James Hardie Industries with its target price reduced to $42.40 from $44.00 following an agreement to sell Fermacell, including the Fermacell and Aestuver brands, to Holcim for EUR840m (US$980m) in cash alongside intentions to close its European fibre cement business.

The analyst views the transaction as a prudent reallocation of capital given fibre cement never scaled in Europe as intended, accounting for 17% of European net sales in 2025.

The broker's estimates indicate that supplying the region from North American plants means an estimated -2%-3% of North American volume will disappear with the closure.

Updates to forecasts reflect the expected divestiture of Europe, debt paydown, and a buyback, lowering earnings per share estimates by -3%-5%.
