August 2017 will mark one of the best corporate results seasons Australian investors have witnessed in a long while, predicts FNArena editor Rudi Filapek-Vandyck. But earnings forecasts are in decline and uncertainties and risks are building, from higher electricity costs, to wobbly consumer confidence, to a much stronger Aussie dollar.

While many mining companies are swimming in cash, poised to treat their shareholders well, numerous High PE stocks seem to be enjoying positive operational momentum, while there could be short term opportunities in beaten down misfits carrying a mountain of short positions. A few small cap technology stocks seem poised to surprise too.
