For a more comprehensive preview of next week's events, please refer to "The Monday Report", published each Monday morning. For all economic data release dates, ex-div dates and times and other relevant information, please refer to the FNArena Calendar.

It is likely that market dynamics early next week will be determined by non-farm payrolls tonight in the USA, and the G20 in Hamburg, Germany over the weekend.

Also, the US Fed is taking the unusual step of publishing its bi-annual Monetary Policy Report prior to next week’s testimony by Fed Chair Janet Yellen. Trump will meet Putin. Tesla will build a brand new factory in South Australia. The release of ADP jobs data disappointed. North Korea is staying true to itself. Global bond yields are not pausing just yet.

Let the speculation begin!

Victim number one at the G20 will likely be globalisation of trade, even though Europe and Japan are offering counterweight through intensifying economic ties. North Korea will feature prominently. Where will the big surprises come from this time? Will there be any?

Looking further forward into the week ahead, the US calendar is offering updates on wholesale and business inventories, the Fed’s Beige Book, the PPI and CPI, average weekly earnings, consumer sentiment, industrial production and retail sales. There are also a host of Fed speakers; the most important one is the Fed Chair Yellen's delivery of the bi-annual "Humphrey Hawkins" testimony to Congress, then the Senate the following week. The Fed’s George, Evans and Kaplan deliver speeches during the week and Williams speaks in Sydney.

The Bank of Canada is meeting on Wednesday and financial markets have priced in a cash rate hike to 0.75%. If delivered, it will be the first rise in seven years. China offers  insights on inflation on Monday, which will be closely scrutinised for an update on the global inflation outlook, in which Chinese businesses play a pivotal role. The country's trade balance for June data (import/export) will be released on Thursday.

In Australia, the most important events on the calendar involve updates on housing lending (May), dwelling commencements (Q1) and business (June) and consumer confidence (July). The first quarterly production reports from miners will start trickling through, while Australian Foundation Investment Company (AFIC) starts releasing FY17 results for a series of Listed Investment Companies (LICs), starting with Mirrabooka Investments ((MIR)) on Wednesday; a reminder to all the August reporting season is but a breath away.
